Born Kwon Ji-yong in Seoul in 1988, G-Dragon is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur widely dubbed the “King of K-pop.” He first rose to fame as the leader and creative backbone of BIGBANG, and has since established himself as one of the most influential solo artists in Korean music history.

His debut solo album Heartbreaker (2009) became the best-selling album by a Korean soloist at the time, and his 2017 concert tour Act III: M.O.T.T.E remains the largest world tour ever conducted by a Korean solo artist. After 20 years with YG Entertainment, he signed with Galaxy Corporation in 2023 under his real name. His third studio album Übermensch (2025) earned Album of the Year at the Melon Music Awards, while its lead single “Home Sweet Home” took Song of the Year at the same ceremony.

Beyond music, G-Dragon is a defining figure in Korean fashion and youth culture, appearing on Hypebeast’s 100 most influential people in fashion list eight times. He has written or co-written 24 number-one songs on the Gaon Digital Chart, and is the first and only solo artist to win the MAMA Award for Artist of the Year twice (2013 and 2025). In 2025, he became the youngest recipient and first idol to receive South Korea’s Okgwan Order of Cultural Merit, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
