Three months after walking away from one of K-pop’s biggest groups, Heeseung has a new name, a new sound, and a debut date.

Now going by EVAN, the former ENHYPEN main vocalist will release his first solo single in June — marking his official debut as an independent artist, just three months after parting ways with the group in March citing differing musical directions.

From main vocal to solo artist

Since debuting with ENHYPEN in 2020, Heeseung built a reputation as the group’s most versatile performer — a main vocalist who could also rap, dance, and hold his own in any format. But what set him apart was what happened behind the scenes. Through tracks like ‘Highway 1009’ and ‘Dial Tragedy,’ he quietly established himself as a songwriter and producer with a genuine creative voice.

Going solo isn’t a pivot. It’s a continuation of something that was already there.

The live calendar is already filling up

The debut single is just the beginning. EVAN is already booked for two major festival stages:

His first solo festival appearances — on both a domestic and US stage — will be watched closely by fans who followed him through the ENHYPEN years and are now eager to see what EVAN sounds like on his own terms.

The bigger picture

Leaving a group at the height of its global momentum is never a small decision. But EVAN made his reasoning clear from the start: musical direction. For an artist who was already writing and producing within a group framework, the move toward creative autonomy makes sense. June’s single will be the first real answer to the question fans have been sitting with since March.

The solo era starts now.
