An eight-member South Korean boy group under KQ Entertainment, debuted on October 24, 2018, with their first EP Treasure EP.1: All to Zero. Members are Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. Their fandom is called ATINY — a combination of “ATEEZ” and “destiny.”
The name ATEEZ stands for “A TEENagers Z,” representing fans of every kind.
The underdog story that became the blueprint
ATEEZ debuted in 2018 from KQ Entertainment, a company without the name recognition of SM, YG, JYP, or HYBE. By most industry logic, the path from there to Coachella — which they performed at in 2024, becoming the first K-pop boy group to do so — shouldn’t have been possible.
It happened because of live performance. From their earliest stages, ATEEZ committed to a level of theatrical intensity that was unusual for a rookie group. Every performance was treated as a full production: pirate aesthetics in the early years gave way to dystopian worldbuilding, then to the cinematic Golden Hour series that began in 2024. San in particular became iconic for his expressive, full-commitment style — the kind of performer fans describe as impossible to look away from.
They built an international fanbase, ATINY, entirely through that performance energy, touring the world while their album sales were still growing.
How the music works
ATEEZ’s catalog is organized into narrative series — the Treasure series (2018–2019), Zero: Fever (2020–2021), The World (2022–2023), and Golden Hour (2024–present) — each telling a connected story across multiple releases. Leader and captain Hongjoong writes and produces much of the group’s music, which blends hip-hop, EDM, and theatrical orchestration into something distinctly their own.
Key milestones: their second studio album The World EP.Fin: Will (2023) became their first to top the Billboard 200. They have since sold over eleven million physical albums worldwide and renewed all eight members’ contracts with KQ Entertainment in 2025.
Where they stand now
In 2024, ATEEZ performed at both Coachella and Mawazine in Morocco — the first K-pop group to headline that festival. Their fifth world tour In Your Fantasy was announced in 2025. Their 13th mini album Golden Hour: Part.4 was released in February 2026.
Where to start listening
“Wonderland” (2019) — The song that established their theatrical identity. Still the clearest introduction to what ATEEZ sounds like at their most ambitious.
“Deja Vu” (2021) — A more atmospheric, darker direction. One of their most emotionally compelling singles.
“Fireworks (I’m the One)” (2021) — Anthemic and immediate, it captures the group’s energy for performance better than almost anything else in their catalog.
