A four-member South Korean rock band under Studio J, an in-house label of JYP Entertainment. Debuted on September 7, 2015, with their first EP The Day. Current members are Sungjin (leader, vocals, guitar), Young K (bass, vocals, rapper), Wonpil (keyboard, vocals), and Dowoon (drums). Their fandom is called My Day.

Originally a six-member band. Junhyeok departed in February 2016, and Jae left in December 2021. All four current members renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment in 2024.

A real band in a world of idol groups

Most K-pop acts perform to pre-recorded tracks. DAY6 play their instruments live — on television stages, in concert, and in the studio. Sungjin plays guitar, Young K plays bass, Wonpil plays keyboard, and Dowoon plays drums. Every member writes. The result is a group that operates closer to a rock band than a traditional idol act, which is exactly what JYP intended when they created Studio J as a label for non-idol-format artists.

They are widely known in South Korean music communities by the phrase 믿듣데 — roughly “DAY6 that you can trust and listen to.” It is a public shorthand for a simple idea: whatever they release will be good. That reputation was built track by track across a decade.

Every DAY6

The clearest expression of who they are came in 2017 with the Every DAY6 project: two new songs released every month for a full year, 24 songs in total. The ambition was staggering for a group that had only been around for two years, and the quality held. Songs like “You Were Beautiful,” “I Like You,” and “I Smile” became the foundation of their fanbase and introduced them to listeners across Asia.

Their first full-length album Sunrise, drawn from the first half of that project, was later named one of the 25 greatest K-pop albums of the 2010s by Billboard.

Where they stand now

After staggering their military service to minimize downtime, all four members were fully discharged by mid-2024. The group returned at full strength — and fans noticed. By 2024, DAY6 had become the band with the highest follower count on Melon, South Korea’s largest streaming platform.

In 2025, they celebrated their 10th anniversary with the album The Decade and launched a global anniversary tour. In March 2026, they released their latest single “Unpiltered,” their most recent output to date.

Where to start listening

“You Were Beautiful” (2017) — The Every DAY6 song that introduced most fans to the group. Melodic, emotionally direct, and still one of their best.

“Zombie” (2020) — Their most internationally streamed song. A sharper track that connected with listeners well outside the usual K-pop audience.

“Maybe Tomorrow” (2025) — A recent single that shows where they are a decade in: more assured, more open.
