Born on September 29, 1999 in Seoul, Choi Yena is a South Korean solo singer known for her bright, energetic personality and signature pop sound. She first rose to prominence by placing 4th on Mnet’s survival audition program PRODUCE 48 in 2018, earning a spot in the project girl group IZ*ONE, where she built a strong fanbase before the group disbanded in 2021.
Her personal story adds an inspiring dimension to her career — as a child, she battled lymphoma, a form of childhood cancer, at a time when doctors advised her parents to give up hope. Her recovery became a source of strength that resonates deeply with her fans. Her older brother is actor and former idol Choi Sung-min.
Following IZ*ONE’s disbandment, she launched her solo career in January 2022 with the EP SMiLEY — a vibrant, bubbly debut that showcased her distinct “cute-girl crush” concept. She has since released additional EPs including SMARTPHONE and GOOD MORNING, consistently carving out her own space in the K-pop scene with upbeat, feel-good music. She received the Best Musician Award at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards and continues to grow her solo presence both in Korea and internationally.
